Introduction
If you already have a contacts database in another program, whether it's an
Office program such as Excel or Access, or a non-Microsoft program such as Lotus
Organizer, you can import the database into Outlook. Use Outlook's Import and Export
Wizard to walk you through the steps.
|
Step 1: Open Import and Export Wizard
Open the File menu and select Import and Export.
|
Step 2: Choose an Action
In the first Wizard dialog box, choose an import or export action.
Because you are importing addresses, choose Import from another program
or file, and then click Next to continue.
|
Step 3: Choose a File Type
In the next Wizard dialog box, choose the type of address file you want
to import. Scroll through the list and make your selection, and then click Next.
|
Step 4: Locate the File
If you know the path of the file you want to import, type it into the text box. If you don't know for sure, use the Browse button to locate the exact file to import. Make your selection and click Next.
|
Step 5: Choose a Destination Folder
Select a destination folder to hold the imported data. If you're importing addresses, consider placing them in the Contacts folder. Click Next to continue.
|
Step 6: Select an Import Action
In the final Wizard box, select the import action to perform, and then click Finish. Outlook imports your address data as specified.
